Maria O'Callaghan Dip.VCM, AVCM, LVCM, FVCM

 

Maria has studied with The Royal Victoria College of Music and Drama where she graduated with honours and is now a Fellow of the college. She teaches extensively through out Cork in primary and post primary schools and UCC.

 

As part of Creative Module she has facilitated workshops for Transition year students in mindfulness, bullying and suicide awareness and has also worked on stand alone projects with Headway Ireland and Cork Refugee Centre. Many of her students have received awards at Feis Maitiu.

 

She has written and directed plays for children which have been performed in The Firkin Crane and Cork Arts Theatre. As well has theatre writinng she has written two short filmstwo short films. Maria has directed and performed films which have been shown in film festivals around the world as well as on RTE.  She is co Artistic Director of Black Boot Theatre, and has played parts as varied as Beck in The Mai,to Gertrude in Hamlet, to Crow in The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.

 

As a performer she has vast experience on both stage and film (though her heart lies on stage!) performing both locally and nationally.

 

Maria believes that drama is the gateway to a confident life, it is fun, exciting and life changing!!
